An especially magnificent building in Unter den Linden Street is Zeughaus (The Armoury). It was built between 1695 and 1730 as an arsenal and is the oldest building of this boulevard. The weapons stored here were exhibited as the royal weapons and models collection along with booties from various conquests. Today the armoury houses the German historical museum with an exhibition on Germany that was given a very modern conceptual design in 2004/2006.
